Employment Development Fund Award
Success Matrix Leicestershire were recognised for their continued work with graduates at an awards ceremony at Leicester Guildhall on 20th July 06. One of 12 groups invited to the celebrations, they had been part of the Employment Development programme, set up in conjunction with Leicester City Council and the Learning Skills Council to help target groups gain further training or enhance their employability skills.
A certificate and award was presented for their work with a group of female graduates, who were looking to find their first step on the career ladder or set up their own business. Success Matrix provided one to one employability advice, as well as co-ordinating a number of initiatives including a conference and business workshops. Many of those graduates have since gone on to find employment through the programme or elsewhere.
Penny Waterfield, Centre Manager, said, “Many graduates already have skills and abilities that businesses can benefit from but either don’t recognise them, or lack the understanding or confidence to market themselves. We get them to focus on their positives and help harness these in progressing their career. Once they have found their feet, the difference we see in both the graduates and businesses can be a real inspiration.”
