The Search is on for the Most Enterprising Students in Lincolnshire, Rutland and Leicestershire!
Finals Events
- 6th September 2006 – Riseholme Hall, Lincoln
- 7th September 2006 – De Montfort University, Leicester
Shell Step is a national programme, now in its 20th year, which places undergraduates into small and medium sized enterprises and community organisations every summer. The students help the host organisations to address specific business development issues by applying the skills they have gained at university to carry out individual projects.
Success Matrix run Shell Step locally across Lincolnshire, Rutland and Leicestershire, and this year has seen us build upon the success of previous years to deliver a record breaking 80 projects!
This year the students have been working on a wide variety of projects ranging from research for new products or markets, design and improvements of IT systems, to innovative inventions to improve business processes. Many students are making a significant contribution to the bottom line of their host business, whilst also developing their own skills and giving them the competitive edge for future employability.
The students will shortly be given the chance to showcase their successes at the local Shell Step finals! At the events, the undergraduates will give a presentation about their project to an audience of fellow students and local businesses. A panel of judges will endeavour to choose the “Most Enterprising Student” for each county!
The 2006 Lincolnshire final will be held on the 6th of September at The University of Lincoln’s Riseholme Hall. The Leicestershire final will be held at De Montfort University the following day. Due to our success in delivering a record number of placements this year, two winners from each county will go on to represent Lincolnshire and Leicestershire at the regional finals (held in Birmingham this year) and if successful, the prestigious UK finals which are being held in London in October. We wish them all the best of luck, and watch this space to find out the winning projects!
